HYDROGEN WITHOUT LIQUEFACTION

A Point-of-Use EM-Governed Architecture That Eliminates the Cryogenic Value Chain

ABSTRACT

The conventional hydrogen value chain rests on a logistical assumption: hydrogen must travel. From that premise follows centralised production, purification, cryogenic liquefaction, insulated maritime transport, boil-off management, ortho-para conversion, and storage infrastructure.

This article argues that the assumption is architecturally contingent rather than physically necessary. It presents the H₂EM device suite as a point-of-use architecture that produces hydrogen from water at the point of consumption through electromagnetically governed separation, microwave water cracking, plasma-locked combustion, and DIGSP supervisory control.

Within the paper’s proposed architecture, the 11.9–15 kWh/kg liquefaction energy category is removed because no liquefaction stage exists. The article compares that zero-distance pathway with the legacy cryogenic chain and sets out industrial, maritime, agricultural, and remote-site applications.
